IMPORTANT NOTICE: Unfortunately the Builders & Allied Traders scheme will no longer be administered by Trading Standards with effect from 1st July 2010.
NB: the Handyperson & Gardeners Scheme is continuing to run – see below:
The Trading Standards Services in Carmarthenshire have recently dealt with a spate of complaints relating to gardening/house maintenance work including sub-standard work and gross over-charging.
Therefore the service decided to attempt to tackle this problem by setting up a form of registration system whereby reputable Handypersons & Gardeners would sign up to a Code of Practice that required them to trade fairly and honestly and abide by the relevant legislation. This includes giving paperwork and charging a reasonable price.
Carmarthenshire County Council hopes you find this list of Handypersons & Gardeners useful. The list shows the trading name, trading address and contact details for each member. There is also a description of the work the trader carries out, as well as the geographical area covered.

Please note the following before contacting a trader on the list:
• The undertakings by the traders have been accepted in good faith. Inclusion of a trader on the list does not mean that the Council guarantees the work or accepts any responsibility for any aspect of the work or any agreement made with the customer.
• Success of the register depends upon consumer support and feedback. Please complete the feedback form that a registered trader will offer you, or let us know if the trader fails to do this.
