Safer Routes in the Community – Burry Port

Burry Port was identified as an area that could benefit from this scheme, which concentrates on providing safety and convenience for sustainable methods of travel whilst recognising that there are still many journeys that  require private car use.

2009 Register of Electors- Register to Vote

An electoral registration form will be delivered to your home between September and October. Make sure the details are correct and post it back, otherwise you may lose your right to vote.

If a form hasn’t been delivered to your household for some reason, please contact the Electoral Services Unit on 01267 228889 or download a registration form and return it to the Electoral Registration Officer, 1 Spilman Street, Carmarthen. SA31 1LE.

Recycling Scheme

Green Bin/ Blue Bag Scheme

The council is extending its green bin/blue bag scheme to a further 30,000 households. Residents will be issued with a green bin (and kitchen caddie) for their food waste and blue bags for recycling paper, cardboard, cans and plastic.

Carmarthenshire County Council is required by law to protect the public funds it administers. It may share information provided to it with other bodies responsible for auditing or administering public funds, in order to prevent and detect fraud.

Registered Traders Scheme

The Trading Standards Services within Carmarthenshire County Council established this scheme to attempt to reduce the number of complaints about the building trade by requiring builders to trade fairly and honestly and abide by the relevant legislation.  We want to increase consumers’ confidence in local traders and have now also set up a list of Gardeners & Handypersons.

Work has commenced on preparation of the Carmarthenshire Local Development Plan (LDP). Currently, interested parties are invited to recommend ‘candidate sites’ for future development or protection.

The deadline for submissions is 5th September 2008

Sustainability Appraisal/Strategic Environmental Assessment (SA/SEA) Scoping Report

The SA Scoping Report is the first stage of the SA/SEA process and sets the context for the SA and SEA of the LDP. The SA will test the LDP for its effect on the environmental, social and economic aspects of the County. The Council is keen to receive feedback via consultation with all interested persons and groups on the appropriateness of the approach set out in the Scoping Report.

The deadline for submission of comments is 8 October 2008

The Regional Transport Plan (RTP) is the result of joint working between the four local authorities in south west Wales and replaces the individual local transport plans previously adopted by the 4 councils.
