The goal of this exciting project is:
“To create, collate, conserve and learn about the history and diverse heritage of Carmarthenshire, by involving staff, community groups, children and young people, disadvantaged groups, societies, volunteers and the general public to develop a modern, informative and expansive collection of historical information relating to the County, and making this information easily accessible for present and future generations to experience and enjoy via the Heritage 6 website linked to the People’s Collection Wales.”
What is Heritage 6?
Heritage 6 will provide easy online access to historical collections deposited at the County’s libraries, archives and museums.
Heritage 6 is a pilot scheme that was launched in Llanelli recently and will gradually be extended throughout the county.
The project aims to “Free the Heritage 6”, which refers to:
Notable/famous people from the area
Historical buildings
Important historical events
Local industries
Anything of heritage interest to the County
Information on all suggestions made will be put on a new Heritage 6 website, building on collections and materials that already exist within libraries, archives and museums. The website will also feature a heritage discussion forum and social networking – ‘To Bring our Heritage to Life’.
What will the website include?
Many relevant local history items held in Carmarthenshire’s libraries, archives and museums will be digitised and made available on the Heritage 6 website. Such items may include:
Photographs
Maps

Documents
And much more…

Children and young people
Schools and colleges
Disadvantaged groups
Societies
